Leee John is the lead singer of the British group Imagination, whose name was inspired by John Lennon’s “Imagine.”
For their second album In the Heat of the Night, released in 1982, they co-wrote the superb jam “Music and Lights” along with the LP’s producers Jolly & Swain (Steven Nicholas Jolley and Tony Swain). It went to #5 in the UK and was a #1 hit for them in France and Italy.
Imagination’s fourth album, Scandalous, was released in the UK in November, 1983. It came out in the U.S. under the title New Dimension in February, 1984. Sadly, it did not do nearly as well as the group’s previous albums.
One reason may have been that the LP’s strongest cut, the dancefloor anthem “State Of Love,” was not the album’s lead single, but the fourth and final single released. If it had dropped first, things might have gone differently.
